"Take-Along Summer Salads"

SaladOn Thursday, July 22 at 6:30 p.m. ANNIE will teach us some TAKE-ALONG SUMMER SALADS ($42). This class features foods that travel well, even in summer. We’ll learn to make a Tomato and Red Onion Salade Provençal, a Mint/Ginger Melon Salad, a Quinoa Salad, a Corn and Jicama Salsa served with Tortilla Chips, a Pesto Pasta Salad with Cherry Tomatoes, and two kinds of Hummus; Plain and Roasted Red Pepper, both served with  Toast Rounds. If you need ideas for foods to serve pool side, or out on the boat, or at a picnic or tailgating party, these are exactly what you’re looking for. They’re equally good at parties indoors, but that’s another class.

ANNIE LESLIE grew up in Wisconsin then attended the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY and holds several college degrees. ANNIE works full-time developing recipes and testing foods for Ameriqual, the makers of our military’s MRE’s. She has work­ed with us, assisting other instructors, for over a year now, and we have been trying to get her to teach for nearly that long. At last, we have succeeded, and we are offering her first two classes on this schedule. ANNIE is a terrific cook and extremely knowledgeable about the mechanics of cooking and the chemistry of foods, so come join us!
