Game Plan for Game Day

Game day gatherings make for easy entertaining occasions! The agenda is a given - the big game.
The invites are casual - a call or text message. The food is easy, made ahead, and packed with flavor!

IN THIS ISSUE, we help you put together a game plan for game day with some fun variations on some standard fare. Always a favorite, guacamole tops the pre-game list. We offer a quick primer on working with avocados, then propose a series of fresh salsas. We finish with a halftime chili that's hot, hearty, and satisfying. Game on!

Saturday, January 22 - Marg Junkhan: Biscuits with Chicken Pot Pie - Biscuits, as featured in "The Kitchen Witches," will be the fare for Marg's demo this morning only with much less drama.  You'll enjoy the biscuits along with a nice, warm, Chicken Pot Pie.

Saturday, January 29 - Margaret Welder: Bacon Wrapped Mini-Meatloaves - Meatloaf is a great comfort food with endless flavor variations.  This recipe has brown sugar in it, which is a bit unusual.  The mini-loaves are wrapped in bacon before baking. Mix this one up and soon you'll have a tasty, satisfying dinner for friends and family.

Saturday February 5 - Greg Harvey, Owner, Black Market Pizza: PIZZA! - Dishing up some of the most original pizza in the state -- taste the creative, personal recipes that have helped Greg make Black Market Pizza (as seen on Man v. Food) criminally good!

Saturday, February 12 - Amy Porath: White Chocolate Cake - It would be hard to imagine a time, a place, or an audience for which this cake wouldn't be right.  "Yum" is all you'll get from your guests.

Saturday, February 19 - Margaret Welder: Cheeseburger Chowder - This is my son's recipe from one he developed for a country club. It is unusual as it has dill pickles in it. It is rich and creamy and has always been a hit.
