New Twists for the Thanksgiving Table

We have a cornucopia of great holiday ideas and strategies for you! While most Thanksgiving food talk seems to focus on the turkey, we're all about the side dishes this time!

IN THIS ISSUE, we present some new ideas for your Thanksgiving celebration - a different kind of stuffing, a seasonal salsa, and a cake full of autumnal flavors. We explore sweet potatoes, wrangle a squash, and shed some light on how to make great gravy. Welcome to our table!

OPEN HOUSE
Sunday, November 6th!
Mark your calendar - You're cordially invited to our ANNUAL HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE on Sunday, November 6th, from 1 to 5 pm! Besides putting out our Holiday linens, candles, decorations and seasonal bakeware, we'll also be serving up ebelskivers and rosettes. What? You don't know what an ebelskiver is? Better stop by!

We'll also be running a special Gift Certificate Promotion! We'll give you 20% of your purchase back, in the form of a Cook's Shop Gift Certificate, on any Wusthof, Shun, Kyocera, Le Creuset, Emile Henry, Mauviel, or Swiss Diamond brand product bought during our Open House! These vendors don't allow retailers to discount so we have to be a little creative when it comes to promotions!

Our neighbor, Simple Pleasures, will be holding his Open House at the same time. We hope you'll find the time to stop in, grab something to eat and say hi at both establishments!

MAUVIEL 5-PLY STAINLESS
We recently had an opportunity to bring in a few solid copper, stainless steel lined fry pans from Mauviel at a great price (reg. $200, promotional $100) that forced me to review their quality and pricing before placing the order. What I found was a wonderful line of 5-ply stainless, made by a 180 year old MauvielFrench company, that makes cookware that is equal or superior to All-Clad, at a 10 to 15% lower price. The Mauviel M'cook line has a classic look and feel, works on induction cook tops, is dishwasher safe, has an indestructible cast stainless handle and the ability to transfer heat quickly and evenly over its 5-ply surface. We've brought a few pieces into the shop to sell and test. Next time you're in, take a look and tell us what you think.

SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY - NOV 26
Further along in this newsletter you'll find a mention of Small Business Sunday, a promotion sponsored by American Express. We're all for anything that supports local business, the local economy, and the town we live in. We've always supported the 3/50 Project, which has a link on the left hand side of this page.

ReStore members give their time, along with volunteer students from Marietta College, to clean the flower beds on Front Street, clean the river banks and bike trail. It's a volunteer organization funded by merchants, businesses and residents of Marietta. ReStore is probably the best example of why it's important to support your local businesses, because they support you. Often in ways you don't realize. On a similar subject, the big news this past month in the kitchenware's industry has been the sale of Sur La Table to an investment group that's based in Bahrain. You may want to take that into consideration the next time you're shopping in Columbus or online.

Thank you for your continued support!
